UNDER THE GREENWOOD: PICTURING THE BRITISH TREE
Essays by Anne Anderson, Tim Craven, Della Hooke, Steve Marshall and Ian Massey
I was invited to participate in the highly acclaimed Under the Greenwood: Picturing the British Trees, an exhibition in two parts of a nationally important celebration of the tree seen through the work of past and contemporary artists including John Constable, Samuel Palmer, Graham Sutherland, Paul Nash, Spencer Gore, Malcolm Drummond, William Ratcliffe and Harold Gilman.
The exhibitions were held at St Barbe Museum and Art Gallery in conjunction with Southampton City Art Gallery. The historic exhibition opened 12th October 2013, and included works on loan from the collections of The Royal Academy, Tate Britain and Victoria and Albert Museum.
The contemporary works, included my large oil painting New Fallen #165, shown from 12th October until 23rd November with works from eminent artists David Nash, George Shaw, Clare Woods and Paul Winstanley.
